Nikalas Greyson & Mallory Forbane His hands were shaking.
Clenched into fists so tight, Nik could feel his nails tearing into his palms, the pain allowing him to focus past the burning desire to tear her heart from her chest. “Get. Out.” It was a growl. A warning. All he could manage, but she never took orders from without a fight and her blue eyes sparked with indignation that made him want to groan. She was stunning when she was angry, but if she didn’t listen to him...

Nikalas Greyson & Mallory Forbane He’d been teasing her.
How he’d found her childhood journal, Mallory would probably never know. What had possessed the creature over a thousand years old to read her childhood journal, Mallory was certain she’d never understand. All she cared about, in that moment, was making sure he didn’t read any more of it. Especially aloud! [Redacted] & Madeline Hail The warm press of her lips against the corner of my mouth almost rose me from sleep.
My eyes cracked open to stare up at Maddy, her cascade of long blonde hair a waterfall around us, casting her features into shadow. The fluttering sound of her wings echoed around the room as she shifted on the bed, and I could feel a frown of question, of concern, fighting through my sleep-addled mind. A tender brush of her fingers smoothed it away before it could fully form. “Falling in love with you would be the death of me...” Reilly Mosswolf & Stella Korazon The silence was deafening.
Reilly hadn’t said anything since they’d escaped the estate by the skin of their teeth. A crossbow bolt had torn through Stella’s cloak, but she’d managed to twist out of its path, dragging Reilly down a side street and using narrow passageways known only to the thieves to escape. But escape they had, and she couldn’t figure out why Reilly still felt so tense at her side. Why she could practically see the glare being directed at her, even though his face was hidden in the shadows. It was only when he pulled her to a stop halfway back to the guild, that she began to realise it was fear that had held his tongue. Relief that made his hands shake. Andric Roche & Lizzy Hail Months ago, Andric wouldn’t have known where to look for her. When the discussions became too heated, and Lizzy needed space to breathe and quiet to think, she would have slipped out the door and Andric would have needed to rely on Booker’s connection to her mind to find her, and make sure she was safe.
Now, he knew he simply had to seek out the nearest source of running water. Her attention stayed fixed out towards the horizon as she watched the ebb and flow of the ocean, but she’d sensed his approach because she didn’t so much as flinch when Andric’s arms curled around her waist. Jack Sanger & Krysis Krysis didn’t remember the last time she’d allowed rain to touch her physical form. The icy cold seeping through her clothes, the water clinging to her eyelashes forcing her to blink, sending droplets scattering down her cheeks.
But Jack’s hand in hers had pulled her into the physical, even as he pulled them into a run, and directed them through the door into his home. Booker Reed & Cara Evelyn Lila was avoiding him.
Booker had expected it because they’d fought, and despite her unruly temper, there was little Lila hated more than fighting with him. But that left Booker adrift in a school of vampires, with nothing to ground him, and he found himself drawing closer and closer to the outcast girl they’d encountered their first night at the school. Cara. Lizzy’s roomate. |
