How Do Your Writing Exercises Work? Essentially, I go to a “Single Word Prompt Generator” and have it throw a random word at me. Then I go to Unsplash.com and use that word to search their database of images, and scroll through for something that catches my attention. This may be something where I simply want to describe what’s in the image, or maybe it sparks a small story nugget in my brain. Regardless, I then take the picture and post it here, with credit, and proceed to write for 15 minutes. Whatever I produce, I share with you lovely people. Unedited. Typos are to be expected. Word Prompt: Married Cold. It had felt cold before. But not like this. The ring had adorned the fingers of dozens of women and almost as many men. It had seen each of them through their relationships, faithful and beautiful. Shining upon their hands, binding them and their chosen partners to their oath, reminding them of vows taken and promises made. The ring had felt cold before, when a wearer passed, and it was returned to a safe little velvet box, held safe and secure and ready for it’s next bearer. But this was new, different. This wearer had spoken the words, made their vows, but had not felt any of them in their heart. The ring could not remind or reassure, because its bearer had never had any intention of remaining faithful and as they were slipped from a finger, and dropped against satin bed sheets, the ring felt it’s stones lose just a tiny fraction of their bright glimmer. Each time it was cast aside, for it’s wearer to betray the vows they had spoke., the ring lost a little more of its shine. It’s metal grew dull, it’s gemstones blackened like the heart it was attached to, and if it had the ability to speak, it would have screamed and wept tears of pain for the one who had gifted it to such a person. #Writing #Original #Writing Exercise #Ari Writes #Arista Writes
